Car cast : Car TV Player Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 1, 2026 · Applies to the Android phone app and the Android Automotive OS app

In short

  • We do not collect, sell or share your personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.

  • Your library, playlists, favorites, playback positions and settings are stored only on your device.

  • The app connects only to the links, playlists and media servers that you add yourself.

  • If you connect a Jellyfin or Emby server, your password is sent only to that server and is never stored. The app keeps an access token on your device.

1. Who we are

CarCast : Car TV Player is published by Syscraft labs. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. If you have questions, contact us using the details in section 11.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. We do not run servers that receive data from the app, and the app does not include analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking software.

3. Information stored on your device

To work, the app saves the following in its private storage on your device. This information is not sent to us.

Information

Why it is stored

Your library: video titles, links, references to files you picked, M3U playlists with their groups and logo addresses

To show and play your videos

Favorites and playback positions

To keep your favorites and resume videos where you stopped

Media server details: server address, user name, user ID and access token

To stay signed in to your own Jellyfin or Emby server

A random app identifier

Sent only to your own media server, so it can recognize this device. It is not linked to your phone's hardware identifiers.

App settings, such as Car mode and whether you completed the introduction

To remember your preferences

Android may include app data in your device backup to your own Google account if backup is enabled on your device. That backup is managed by Google under your Google account settings.

4. Content and services you connect to

The app does not provide any content. It only plays videos, links and playlists that you add. When you play a link, import a playlist, load a channel logo or connect to a media server, the app connects directly to that address. That website or server can receive standard connection information such as your IP address and the app's user agent, and its own privacy policy applies.

When you sign in to a Jellyfin or Emby server, your user name and password are sent only to the server address you entered. The app reports playback progress to that server so it can show where you stopped. Only add content and servers that you own or have the right to access.

5. Google Play services

The app uses the Google Play In-App Review feature, which may show a Google Play rating card. This feature is provided by Google, and any rating you submit is handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy. The app does not receive your rating or review.

6. Car features

  • Android Automotive OS: the app reads whether the car is parked or moving so it can pause video while driving. This status is used only on the device at that moment and is not stored or shared.

  • Car screens and screen mirroring: the app checks whether an external display is connected so it can show video on it. Information about the display is not stored or shared.

  • Android Auto: the app checks whether your phone is connected to Android Auto to show the right status. This is not stored or shared.

7. Permissions

  • Internet: to play links and playlists, load logos and posters, and connect to your media server.

  • Foreground service (media playback): to keep a receiver playback session running when started from a companion app.

The app does not request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone or phone storage. Files are opened only when you pick them with the Android file picker, and the app can read only the files you choose.

8. Security and retention

Information stays in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. It is kept until you remove it. You can delete it at any time:

  • Settings › Clear library removes your videos and playlists.

  • Settings › Forget playback positions removes saved positions.

  • Servers › Remove server signs you out and deletes that server's details.

  • Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android settings, deletes everything.

9. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will also be described in the app's release notes on Google Play.
